Lululemon is a Canadian multinational athletic apparel retailer founded in 1998 by Chip Wilson in Vancouver, British Columbia. Originally conceived as a yoga-inspired technical athletic apparel company for women, Lululemon began with the simple vision of creating stylish, high-performance yoga pants using proprietary fabrics. The brand pioneered the athleisure movement, transforming athletic wear into luxury lifestyle apparel that transcends traditional sportswear boundaries. Lululemon has masterfully positioned itself as more than just a clothing retailer, cultivating a lifestyle brand identity centered around wellness, mindfulness, and community building. The company's distinctive approach includes its inspirational manifesto, premium technical fabrics developed in-house, and community-focused retail experiences. From its humble beginnings as a design studio by day and yoga studio by night, Lululemon has expanded globally with over 700 stores, developing a devoted cult following among consumers who view the brand as an investment in their overall wellbeing and active lifestyle.
