About the brand

Australian designer Christopher Esber founded his eponymous brand in 2010 after graduating from Sydney's Fashion Design Studio in 2008. Known for harmoniously blending structured silhouettes with fluid drape, Esber subverts conventional design with concepts informed by his background in tailoring, use of negative space, and sculptural hardware. His innovative approach creates new silhouettes that inspire escapism and sensuality, working with skilled craftspeople through an in-house atelier and collaborating with artisans across France, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain. The brand has achieved significant international recognition, with Esber making his Paris Fashion Week debut in September 2023 and becoming the first Australian to win the prestigious ANDAM Grand Prix Prize in June 2024. His sensual designs featuring expert tailoring and signature cut-outs have garnered a celebrity following including Zendaya, Dua Lipa, and Emily Ratajkowski, establishing the label as a global force in contemporary fashion with distribution across over 150 stores worldwide.

Marie Claire Australia

Dresses are the bread and butter of Esber's commercial appeal, and this season, they push boundaries, mingling architectural intrigue with delicate detailing—his signature interplay of form and freedom.

In a collection that managed to seamlessly weave together flamenco influences, ornate craftsmanship, and the quiet grandeur and character of aged interiors into one cohesive direction, Esber delivered a masterclass in modern decadence.

For those who shy away from cut-out details, the gold sculptural element holding the dress together could win you over. It's undeniably striking and adds an artistic edge to the look.

Harper's Bazaar Australia

Esber has created a name for himself largely from his It-girl approved cut-out gowns, which gloriously hug the figure in a way that oozes sensual glamour.

While the draping is beautifully executed, with the skirt folds back onto itself, the colour feels flat. A richer tone – brown or green – might have elevated the aesthetic.

CHRISTOPHER ESBER'S NAMESAKE label has always been a balancing act: Hard versus soft, form versus function, what is covered versus what is seen.

What I find most disappointing about Christopher Esber, is the more successful the brand has gotten the shittier the quality of the cut/fabric. Feels like he's just coasting on reputation now.

Some of his silhouettes are interesting but when I check the composition, literally ALL of it is polyester. If I'm going to pay that much for an item, composition and fabric is a deal breaker to me.

Wild that the fabric would be dirt cheap, the manufacturing would be dirt cheap, and yet they're still selling for $2k?!?
