About the brand

Bassike is an Australian fashion brand founded in 2006 by Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan, who set out to create high-quality, sustainably sourced wardrobe essentials missing from the market. Born from a 1950s cottage on Sydney's Palm Beach, the brand embodies the ease and vitality of Australian beach life. Starting with luxurious organic cotton jersey t-shirts and pants, Bassike has evolved to include denim, tailoring, outerwear, knitwear, swimwear, and accessories while maintaining its core principles of considered design, responsible business practices, and sustainable manufacturing. The brand is renowned for its signature organic cotton jersey made in Australia from 100% organic cotton, with over 95% of all garments manufactured locally. As a certified B Corporation since 2022, Bassike continues to pioneer sustainable fashion through its commitment to organic materials, local production, and ethical business practices, creating contemporary designs with utilitarian influences that seamlessly integrate into existing wardrobes with androgynous ease.

Just a little warning please save yourself and don't purchase footwear from Bassike, who claim to sell 'Premium Italian Leather' - Its not!. Definitely stay away from the 'Eyelet Detail Ballerina Flat' - yes so super cute, but has a design flaw and leather is so not premium Italian leather, and tears very easily.

I like the idea of slow fashion and I believe they are made in Australia, but their pant cuts are really inconsistent for thicc girlies, so I dont buy as much as I could.

I have never experienced such poor Customer Service, so disappointing! Oh but apparently I can make an arrangement to take the shoes into the store for further assessment but made clear that the decision is not likely to change.

I went to a talk the other day from the founder and it seemed very much like her plan is still to keep to what they're known for - Aussie made, organic fabrics, styles made to last.

I really only ever buy on sale. I like a lot of their clothes but just can't justify the price point.

Their prices keep going up, but given they're still made in Australia and I can get a good 7 years out of a tee if a) I don't change body size and b) the clothing moths don't get in to do any damage, it feels worth it to me.

I used to be a fan of Bassike for a few years. But their latest season has shirts at $450-495. For a shirt!! Anybody else priced out?

I just bought Bassike track pants made from elevated fabric so I'm now wearing trackies to my executive job with a blazer. Couldn't be happier and more comfortable.

The reef has truly carried through into the collection – inspired by the organic shape and colour of coral, we have introduced billowy silks creating waves of lightness and volume, with contrast scalloped panel lines and curved hem detailing.
